Liz Kitch will join the Diocese of Gloucester as its new Senior Churches and Pastoral Transitions Officer in early December.

Liz joins from the Diocese of Oxford, where she has served as Head of Church Buildings for the past decade, and brings more than 14 years’ experience working within the Church of England, specialising in the conservation, care and evolving use of church buildings. Liz is a member of the Church Buildings Council and enjoys working with colleagues across the National Church on policy and legislative matters affecting church buildings and the parishes they serve. A Gloucestershire resident for the last four years, Liz is particularly looking forward to getting to know the people, places and communities that make up diocesan life and to supporting the Church’s ministry across the diocese.

Liz said: “I am excited to be joining the Diocese of Gloucester and am looking forward to becoming part of a team with such a strong commitment to supporting churches and communities. The role brings together many of the areas that I have most enjoyed throughout my career, and I am keen to work alongside colleagues and parishes across the diocese, listening to a wide range of voices, learning from others’ experiences, and deepening my understanding of the life of the Diocese.”

Adam Klups, Care of Churches and DAC Team Lead said: “I am extremely pleased that Liz has accepted our invitation to join the Team. Her wealth of experience, expertise and skills will significantly strengthen our capacity to serve our parishes, particularly at a time when we are investing considerable energy in developing new and effective ways of supporting churches and their worshipping communities.”

Ben Preece Smith, Diocesan Secretary, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Liz will be bringing her huge experience and wisdom to help serve the Church in this diocese. By working with Adam and his team she will continue ensure the living testaments of faith that our church buildings are and bear witness to are properly supported by a team of caring, passionate professionals.”

The word Leadership spelt out, with Committed to Transformation written underneath.
