Nominations open for Christian Aid Power of Hope awards

Christian Aid 80 years logoChristian Aid is calling for nominations of individuals or groups from our worshipping communities for the Power of Hope Award, which the charity has launched to mark its 80th anniversary.

The nominees need to be dedicated supporters of the organisation – for example, someone who is very creative with fundraising, a group who has shown exceptional commitment to social justice and activism, or a young person who has shown they are a courageous advocate for change.

To put someone forward, people will need to download this nomination pack for instructions and guidance, including tips on how to write a good submission.

Nominees will be need to be put into a relevant category, and applications require supporting evidence along with an explanation of why they have been put forward.

Yvonne Penn, Christian Aid Church Engagement and Fundraising Officer for Gloucestershire, Bristol, Wiltshire and the Channel Islands, said:

“I am always impressed by the many ways that our supporters fundraise and campaign. It is a privilege to meet members of different worshipping communities across the Diocese of Gloucester as we share God’s love in our world. Please do nominate someone and help mark our 80th anniversary in this joyful way.”

Senior Volunteering Officer Ian Hind said: “Christian Aid volunteers and supporters are the backbone of our organisation and we felt this was a great way of celebrating the huge variety of ways individuals, groups and churches support us.

“We have awards for creative fundraising, prophetic activism, young Global Neighbours and those behind the scenes – to name a few. These categories celebrate the many ways our supporters make a difference, from fundraising and campaigning to volunteering and community action.

“We’re really excited to shine a light on these remarkable contributions and we need nominations for individuals, groups and worshipping communities who have really demonstrated the unstoppable power of hope and have gone the extra mile in solidarity with our global neighbours.”

The awards will be presented at an event on Thursday 12 June at Church House, Westminster.
