This weekend, eight new priests and eight new deacons were ordained at Gloucester Cathedral. The candidates spent four days on retreat with the Revd Canon Ann Sargent, Diocesan Director of Ordinands.

This new group of clergy will guide congregations through prayer, teaching, and worship, advancing the mission of the Church and speaking in the name of Christ.

The newly ordained deacons begin their journey into ordained ministry, entrusted with specific responsibilities carried out on behalf of God and the Church.

On Sunday 29 June at 10.15am, the following were ordained as deacons by Bishop Rachel at Gloucester Cathedral:

The newly ordained priests have been serving in churches across the diocese as deacons, gaining practical experience in the roles of a priest and supporting their parish priests with church responsibilities. Their ordination represents the final stage of preparation and training.

On Saturday 28 June at 3pm, the following were ordained as priests by Bishop Rachel at Gloucester Cathedral:
- Robert Kenneth Atkin, South Cheltenham Team (Benefice) (SSM), to serve at Emmanuel Network Church.
- David Baker, Cheltenham, Holy Trinity and St Paul (Benefice), to serve at St Paul’s Church (SSM)
