Bishop Rachel for Church Times: On listening to the voices of Palestinian Christians in the West Bank

Published: Friday June 28, 2024

Bishop RachelBishop Rachel is this week featured on the Church Time’s podcast, interviewed by Francis Martin about her visit this month to Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank.

“One of the main points of her visit, she said, was listen to the voices of  Palestinian Christians in the West Bank.

“Since the “awful atrocities” committed by Hamas on 7 October and the subsequent “horrors of the war in Gaza”, she said, “there has been an absence of a focus on the West Bank.”

  1. Listening to +Rachel reflecting on some of the middle east issues was to hear a person engaging with justice; wonderful to hear.
She spoke about atrocities and it seems to me that whenever they are committed they sow a seemingly incurable virus in the victims causing deep hatred and disrespect along with suspicion. It makes no difference who is perpetrating the atrocity. The long term effect is always the same until the only treatment can be found, that is, the blood of Jesus which brings repentance and forgiveness. I know of no other solution. It is this that we pray for and strive to bring to these intractable situations.
But listening is a great place to begin restoration and my admiration goes to a lady who clearly knows how to
    listen and engage.
