Project Manager at St Mary de Crypt

As Project Manager of the Tudor Wall Painting and Sanctuary Project, you will work closely with the projectteam, volunteers, contractors and student placements to ensure the project runs effectively to time and budget, working to the agreed frameworks of the schedule of works, activity plan, and interpretation plan.

You will oversee the management of conservation work and development and implementation of new interpretation.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management

  • Provide full support to the Sanctuary Project Board in overseeing the
  • Lead on the preparation and management of project management plans, programmetimetables and risk registers, sharing with the Board in advance of
  • Monitor progress against key
  • Manage the project budget, monitoring expenditure and advising of any
  • Advise the Sanctuary Project Group of any foreseen issues, risks and
  • Maintain records of all project related
  • Working with the Operations Manager, co-ordinate grant drawdowns and monitoring

Project team

  • Work closely with the Operations Manager on project reports and claims to The National LotteryHeritage
  • Work collaboratively with the project team to ensure you feed into each other’s work to ensureprogrammes of work are carried out smoothly and
  • Line manages and works closely with the Heritage Activity Co-ordinator to ensure the programme ofactivities feeds into conservation and interpretation, and vice
  • Line manages the Multi-Channel Marketeer Apprentice and work closely with them and theOperations Manager on the creation of marketing and digital
  • Commission and manage the work of the Project

 

Conservation schedule of works

  • Work alongside the church architect to commission specialist conservators to undertakeconservation work, ensuring they are suitably
  • Ensure work is carried out to plan, time and
  • Co-ordinate all external contractors onsite and ensure full compliance with HCS and access for other church users.
  • Act as a conduit between conservation contractors and the wider project team (Heritage ActivityCo-ordinator and Multi-channel Marketeer Apprentice) to carry out agreed commitments for theactivity plan e. hard hat tours, specialist talks, and digital content.

 

Interpretation

  • Lead on the commissioning of heritage interpretation contractor/s to undertake interpretationdevelopment, design and installation ensuring they are suitably qualified.
  • Act as a conduit between conservation contractors and the wider project team to feed intointerpretation development and
  • Ensure work is carried out to plan, time and
  • Lead on the commissioning of an artist to recreate the Adoration of the Magi, as it might havelooked, for interpretation

 

Student conservation placements

  • Lead on the recruitment and induction of student placements from the University of Lincoln andCourtauld Institute and co-ordinate their
  • Lead on the recruitment and induction of student placements from The Crypt
  • Liaise with conservation contractors to ensure all conservation placement students have been givenrelevant training, including health and
  • Support students for the duration of the
  • Ensure that student placement demographic data and placement hours are regularlycollected in line with GDPR regulations for project monitoring and evaluation
  • Ensure that the experience of students is regularly collected in line with GDPR regulations forproject monitoring and evaluation

 

 

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

 

Essential Experience

  • Proven track record of project management in a heritage
  • Experience of working on projects funded by The National Lottery Heritage
  • Experience of working as part of a
  • Experience of working in partnership with multiple stakeholders to develop and deliver shared goals.
  • Experience of managing and supporting volunteers, especially young
  • Experience of different approaches to evaluating activities as part of a wider
  • Experience of working to deadlines and managing
  • Experience of working with historic buildings and understanding the issues around their care.

 

Essential Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification and/or a minimum of two years’ demonstrable experience managingheritage projects to
  • An understanding of funding bodies and how they
  • Robust knowledge of evaluation frameworks and
  • Knowledge of the principles of interpretation and interpretative
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally withproven skills in working with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Highly organised and flexible with experience of managing complex workloads, budgets and competing deadlines.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and
  • Excellent computer skills including the Microsoft Office
  • Able to work well independently and under own
