This summer, throughout July and August, we’ll be running a social media campaign called ‘Little Pilgrims’.
The aim is to help families discover (or rediscover) our church buildings, not just as places of worship, but as spaces of welcome, full of history and culture.
Across the diocese we know you are welcoming families in many creative ways and we want to help connect families with their local church, as well as encourage them to see church buildings as places to visit and explore over the summer holidays.
You may have seen the national Church’s Pilgrim Places campaign, which highlights the deeper meaning and journey of pilgrimage. We’d love to join that wider conversation, but in a way that keeps children and young people at the centre.
We would really love you and your worshipping community to share the good things happening locally to you.
If you’re able to, please send:
• A good quality photograph of your church building
• One surprising or little-known fact about your church
• One way your church welcomes children, young people and families with a picture if possible (max. 30 words), for example:
• toddler groups or holiday clubs
• coffee mornings where children are truly included
• nature or activity trails
• cool, quiet spaces in hot weather
• creative or playful features (like the Tolkien doors at Stow-on-the-Wold)
In sharing what is already happening, we can together build a picture of churches as places where children and families can experience true welcome and connection.
