Bishop Rachel joins ‘Time to Act’ campaign

Bishop Rachel is continuing to raise her voice for justice and peace across Palestine and Israel, adding her support to the national ‘Time To Act’ campaign.

She said: “As Christians we believe that every person is created in the image of God, thus working for a just peace in Israel and Palestine requires us to uphold the human dignity of every person and to advocate for and stand alongside all those struggling on a daily basis, often under the most precarious of conditions.

“Responding to specific injustices requires even more than an offering of thoughts and prayers. Indeed, it demands a costly discipleship in which we commit together to work tirelessly and lovingly for the peace of Christ in the Holy Land.

“I am grateful to the Just Peace Coalition for providing such a timely opportunity for Christians to do just that. I encourage all those that have a passion for peace and justice to join me in the Time To Act campaign. The time to act is now.”

As part of the campaign’s launch, Bishop Rachel features in the main video, pictured holding a clock – a powerful symbol that now is the moment to act. Her participation underlines the urgency of the call for peace, and the role of the Church in responding with courage and compassion.

Across Palestine and Israel, communities are living through devastating violence, loss and injustice. Palestinian Christians have called on the global Church not to respond with silence or despair, but with practical and faithful action.

In response, churches and Christian organisations across the UK have come together to form the Just Peace Coalition. The Diocese of Gloucester is among those supporting this shared commitment to work and pray for ‘a just peace for all who call the Holy Land home’.

Through the Time To Act campaign, individuals, churches and communities are being invited to join this movement. It is not simply about raising awareness, but about taking tangible steps towards justice, accountability and peace.

Those who sign up are committing to listening to the voices of those most affected, learning more deeply about the situation, living differently in response, and taking action for a more just and lasting peace.
