Celebrate Children, Youth and Families Ministry with ‘RECOGNISE’

Published: Tuesday April 29, 2025

RECOGNISE, running 7 to 13 July, is a week long celebration of everyone involved with church Children, Youth and Families Ministry.

Whether being paid leaders or volunteers, this is a time to show gratitude to those who work hard to help to guide the faith journey of the next generation.

Barrie Voyce, Senior Youth Connector for the Diocese of Gloucester, said: “I’m super excited that we get to RECOGNISE the hours of work and dedication given by those in ministry to children, youth and families across our churches.

“Investing in people and programmes that inspire young people often happens around the edges of church, and this week of celebration will bring it to the front and centre. We encourage everyone to get involved.”

The celebration is part of the 30k Project which aims to bring 30,000 new children and youth leaders into the Church of England by 2030.

If you have any form of CYPF Ministry in your church, register using this link, and your church will receive a free RECOGNISE pack (distributed on a first come, first served basis) at the end of June, which includes balloons, resources, and a special cake topper.

On 13 July, registered churches nationwide are asked to make space in their usual Sunday service to ‘recognise’ the children and young people who serve and contribute to CYPF Ministry. This could include baking and buying a cake to share (using the cake topper of course), and to play a short film of thanks which will be released closer to the time.

Share your appreciation online using #RECOGNISE to help amplify the message across the Church and beyond.

Want to celebrate other volunteers in your church as well as CYPF ministers? National Volunteers Week runs from 2 to 8 June and is a great chance to thank even more of our amazing volunteers.

The Church of England are currently asking for children and young people to participate in the short film of thanks video; more information can be found here.
