The Right Reverend Dr K Senam Raj was installed as Bishop of the Diocese of Dornakal, India, on 2 August, following the retirement of Bishop Padma Rao in June 2026.

Link Officer Penny Fayter said, “We extend our warm congratulations to Bishop Senam Raj and his wife, Vijaya, as they begin this new chapter of ministry. We also wish Bishop Padma Rao and his wife, Vijaya, a happy and fulfilling retirement.”

After many years of service, Vijaya Padma Rao is also retiring from her role as Principal of the Dornakal Diocesan English Medium School. The couple will remain in Dornakal, moving into a house built on land belonging to Bishop Padma Rao’s family.

Born on 29 July 1964, Bishop Senam Raj has three sons and one grandchild. He was ordained in 1989 and has served in a number of churches across the Diocese of Dornakal.

Alongside his parish ministry, he has made a significant contribution to education within the Diocese, serving as Principal of the Diocesan Junior College and Bishop Azariah Degree College. He has also worked as Business Manager of Bishop Whitehead Hospital in Khammam and has served on the Synod of the Church of South India. In recognition of his ministry at St Mary’s Church, Khammam, and his service to the wider community, he received an award from the Government of Telangana State.

Bishop Senam Raj’s vision for the Diocese includes spiritual renewal, compassionate pastoral care, the empowerment of young people, strong ministry among women and families, and greater access to education, particularly for those who are poor or marginalised, including Dalit, tribal and disabled communities.
