Remember a Charity Week

We’ll all be remembered for something. A funny moment. A much-loved hobby. Our unique quirks. Or that one story everyone knows.

Across the Diocese of Gloucester, our churches are part of the story of people’s lives – marking important moments, supporting communities, sharing faith and being there for people through good times and difficult ones. And more people are thinking about what they want to leave behind.

Recent research from Remember A Charity found that six out of ten charity supporters have made a will, and up to half of those will ensure a charity is a named beneficiary. That means that, for many people, leaving a gift in a will is already a part of planning for the future and remembering the things that matter to them.

This Remember a Charity Week, we’re encouraging everyone to think about the things that matter to them and the difference they would like to make for future generations.

Leaving a gift in your will to a charity you love is one way of creating a lasting legacy for a cause that matters to you.

Many people are surprised by how much even a modest gift can achieve. After taking care of those closest to you, a small percentage of your estate or a fixed sum can help your church continue to be there for future generations, just as it has been there for people throughout their lives.
