Introduction

‘This is indeed the will of my Father, that all who see the Son and believe in him may have eternal life; and I will raise them up on the last day.’ How do we live out our hope in the resurrection as lights in the world?

John 6.37–40

Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and anyone who comes to me I will never drive away; for I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. This is indeed the will of my Father, that all who see the Son and believe in him may have eternal life; and I will raise them up on the last day.’

Questions:

  • What do we believe ‘everything’ includes? Where do we [consciously or subconsciously] put the parameters?
  • When are we tempted to drive away someone, or something, that Jesus never would?
  • How do we speak of hope, of raising up, on such a day as this?

Things to think about with the child at the centre

How do we enable children of all ages to come to Jesus in their own way and in their own right? (And also for those with cognitive impairments?))
