The Beacon Benefice have plenty of creation themed events and services over the course of this month (June 2024) to celebrate creation and our Creator.

Events are taking place over the six churches of the benefice which are located around the village of Painswick.

Upcoming events include a history walk, a flower festival, and a creation-themed quiet day.

Family events include ‘Toddlers on Tour’ outdoor playtime and a ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic and Zipwire’.

The celebration concludes on Sunday 30 June with a Beacon family ‘Worship on the Common’ and BYO picnic, followed by ‘In Praise of Creation’ Benefice Songs of Praise in the evening.

Regular church services and activities feature creation themes, with guest preachers and leaders from the diocesan eco expert teams.

Some events coincide with ‘Churches Count on Nature’ and ‘Love Your Burial Ground Week’ that has already started and ends on 16 June.

The Revd Sarah Haslam, Rector of the Beacon Benefice, said: “This month is an opportunity for our benefice to do something more than to spend a week celebrating God’s creation. We are lucky to be located in a stunning rural area and we wanted to dedicate more time to celebrate and enjoy the gift God has given us, to help us draw closer to him.”
