Sportily is supporting a campaign encouraging primary schools to rethink physical education, championing a more inclusive, play-based approach that helps every child experience the joy of movement.
As part of the Diocese of Gloucester, Sportily is working alongside Boing to promote the ‘Play Their Way’ campaign, which encourages schools to view PE not simply as a curriculum subject, but as an opportunity to improve children’s wellbeing, confidence and lifelong relationship with physical activity.
The campaign is rooted in growing evidence that play-based physical literacy helps children develop confidence, resilience, emotional wellbeing and a lasting enjoyment of being active, while ensuring every child can take part, regardless of ability or experience.

The message reflects Sportily’s own vision of helping children and young people to Give it a go, creating opportunities for them to flourish through sport, play and faith.
Over the last academic year alone, Sportily worked with more than 50 schools across Gloucestershire, delivering over 3,500 hours of school-based sport and physical activity. This included after-school clubs, ActiveRE lessons, lunchtime sports, school residentials, activity days, sports events, PlayMakers leadership programmes and targeted interventions for children needing additional support.
Rather than focusing on sporting performance, Sportily’s work aims to help children build confidence, develop positive relationships and discover that movement can be a part of discovering life in all its fullness as part of the Diocesan LIFE vision.
Richard Witham (Sportily Co-CEO) said: “We really believe every child deserves the opportunity to discover the joy of movement; helping children grow in confidence, build friendships, find support and realise their God-given potential.
“That’s why we’re backing the ‘Play Their Way’ campaign. It reflects everything we believe about creating inclusive opportunities where every child feels they belong and is encouraged to simply give it a go.”
