Congratulations to Dean Stephen Lake who has been appointed as the next Bishop of Salisbury – we wish him every success when he takes up his post in April.  Thank you to the Dean for his welcome to schools who visit the Cathedral as part of their curriculum studies and for leading children and staff in prayer at our Leavers’ Services over the past few years.

Please know that you will continue to receive a warm welcome from the Cathedral team, including Canon Andrew Braddock, who will be Interim Dean from April.  We look forward to him joining us at the Leavers’ Service in June.

New Solar Panels at Bussage C of E Primary School
We are delighted to have received Diocesan approved funding to install solar panels on our school roof and are very much looking forward to the installation taking place during this summer’s recess. Our school and pupils are increasingly eco-aware and are very keen to do what we can to reduce our school’s carbon footprint. Following COP26 in autumn last year, we received a petition signed by over 100 of our pupils asking us to consider installing solar panels. As it happened, we were already working on this idea but this action by our children spurred us on and was a key factor in bringing the project forward. Our project will also be closely followed by pupils from the Eco-Ministry (part of our whole School Parliament). We are really fortunate to benefit from a large, single storey building which is surrounded by open space on the top of Bussage Hill, meaning that our solar installation will be able to capture a very high proportion on the sunlight available. We anticipate installing in the region of 60 panels on our roof.  Richard Bedford, Chair of Governors
