‘Being Missional Today’: Disruption, Liminality and Reconciliation
Being Missional Today will be a festival of missional thinking, exploring the impact of disruptions in church and world, the liminality of this current season, and the role of reconciliation practices. It promises to be a stimulating event for those looking for inspiration in the missional challenges facing our local parishes and diocesan resource people today.
This conference will be welcoming 22 different speakers, mostly published authors, with Bishop Guli Francis-Dehqani and the Revd Dr. Al Barrett headlining.
The gathering is sponsored jointly by the Church Urban Fund, Coventry Cathedral, the Iona Community and Reconciliation Initiatives (RI).
The RI is handling the ticket sales and core organisation of the conference.
Conference highlights:
- Dialogical: Conversations between 22 speakers with fellow participants, including space for small group conversation, and quiet reflection time: what participants bring will be as valued as what the platform speakers share.
- Inclusive perspectives: A chance to hear from voices historically marginalised in mission dialogues, creating a more globally connected and inclusive conversation, and exploring perspectives beyond current dominant models. Speakers include: Carlton Turner, Catherine Okoronkwo, Charlotte Gale, David Brubaker, Gale Richards, Harvey Kwiyani, John Witcombe, Peniel Rajkumar, Robert Beckford, Rosy Fairhurst, Ruth Harley, Sharon Prentis, Victoria Turner and Executive Director of Reconciliation today, Alistair McKay. Further details on all of these speakers can be found here.
- Coventry Cathedral: Opportunities to explore this iconic cathedral, with its long history of involvement in reconciliation ministries, in diverse ways.
Discounted tickets
The conference will have four different streams running through the course of the day. Participants will therefore need to choose between the offerings.
The conference is offering a discount for a group of 5 or more from the same diocese, when tickets are bought as a group. Groups of 5 save £10 per ticket, meaning the total cost is £65 instead of full price £75. See here for details.
