We can share that one new member of the House of Clergy and one new member of the House of Laity have been elected to represent the Diocese of Gloucester at General Synod.
The Revd James Turk has been elected to the House of Clergy and Eleanor (Ellie) Grice has been elected to the House of Laity.
They will fill their respective seats until the end of the current quinquennium (i.e. until next July). A new General Synod will be formed next year.
The Revd James Turk is a Rector in the Stroud Team Ministry, leading nine churches in six parishes. A former self-supporting curate, coupling engineering design with preaching and leading worship, James has a strong appreciation for God’s work in our everyday life.
James said, “I want to bring a voice from our diocese that is committed to listening well, speaking with grace, and working towards unity without demanding uniformity.
“I want to work for a Church where all truly belong. Together, we can model the unity, love, and hope our communities long to see.”
The Revd James Turk — General Synod Casual Vacancy Election – House of Clergy
“Hi, my name is Ellie and this is the first time I’ve been involved with General Synod. I’m excited to be involved. I’ve lived in Gloucestershire for 9 years after moving down from the West Midlands where I grew up with my parents and three older siblings. During the week I work as a church administrator for St Catharine’s Church in Gloucester as well St Paul’s Church, where I worship. In my free time I enjoy baking, walking and seeing friends and family, including spending time with my nieces and nephews.”
