I wonder what you will choose to put on this Christmas. Perhaps you’ve got a Christmas jumper, or perhaps a funny hat, and I wonder who you will be with for Christmas. The Bible tells us that the first Christmas when the baby Jesus was born, he wore bands of cloth which Mary and Joseph would have wrapped tightly around him, as with all babies in those days.

And the baby Jesus had quite a lot of people people with him that first Christmas; as well as all the animals there were shepherds, and later there were some very clever wise men who travelled a long way following a star. And that first Christmas was all about God wanting to be with us.

It’s amazing that God came to Earth to be with us, and the tiny baby Jesus grew to be a man who showed us who God is and how much God longs to be close to us to be among us, to be with us. And although Jesus Christ is no longer here on Earth as a person we can see and who puts on clothes, Jesus is still here with us through the mysterious power of the Holy Spirit – its fantastic mystery.

And Jesus Christ wants to be with you in all the excitement of Christmas; in the places where you will smile and laugh, and in the places where there may be tears, the place places where life seems hard. And whatever we choose to put on, Jesus Christ chooses to put on love; love that Jesus wants to wrap around us. Now that is something to celebrate with Christmassy clothes.

Happy Christmas!
