For the month of November, we’re encouraging Christians to Pray Like Hannah. Hannah was a woman in the Bible who prayed intensely for God to give her a child. In her case, her prayers were granted, but the story isn’t really about that, it’s about the depth and the strength of her love for God and how it transformed her world.

The prayers are based around the ordinary things that are happening in our lives, like washing up, sending a text, or watering the plants, and encouraging us to pray for the children in our own communities and beyond. We will be praying for the whole family of God, but thinking particularly about the lives of the children around us.

If you pray regularly, or even if you don’t, we’d love you to join. We want to get as many people as possible praying, so we have created a suite of social media resources that you can also share on your parish or personal social media.

Each day of the month there will be an Instagram graphic available, along with a short video, filmed in a square format to make it more easily shared across channels, with a small amount of supporting text. You can find the videos on our YouTube channel, Facebook page and X account, released at 6am daily through November.

If you would like to, you can share from the diocesan social media channels or schedule your own using our material. Use the hashtag #PrayLikeHannah
