Wild Worship: Living Water
All are welcome to this short, informal service at Tewkesbury Abbey exploring ‘Living Water’.
As part of the Abbey’s ongoing work to be an eco church, it is working in partnership with Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust to install a rain garden outside the Abbey Garden Cafe.
Rain gardens are a type of Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS). These planters are designed to capture and soak up rainwater. They help reduce flooding by slowing the flow of water from hard surfaces like roofs, roads and patios, while creating beautiful green spaces for wildlife and people to enjoy. Tewkesbury Town Council and Tewkesbury Baptist Church have already worked with GWT to install beautiful raingardens in their spaces.
It is hoped that it may inspire everyone who visits and worships at the Abbey to think about how they can “’slow the flow’ around their own homes.
It will be planted and blessed during this Wild Worship.
There will also be stories and singing, making miniature rain gardens, and snacks by the campfire.
Free and suitable for all ages.
