A Blackbird Sang – a festival of words and music

Friday 10 October 2025, 1:30 pm to Sunday 12 October 2025, 5:00 pm

A Blackbird SangThe Leadon Vale Benefice invites you to A Blackbird Sang, an upcoming weekend of music, poetry and worship at St Mary’s Church, Dymock, all inspired by the Dymock Poets.

This weekend brings together internationally acclaimed tenor James Gilchrist with the  talented St Martin-in-the-Fields Emerging Artists for a rich programme of concerts, workshops, and worship.

Across the weekend you’re invited to:

  • Take part in a free singing workshop led by inspiring musicians
  • Enjoy concerts that celebrate the relationship between music and poetry
  • Experience a beautiful candlelit service of Compline
  • Share in a joyful Celebration Eucharist on Sunday morning

Whether you are a keen singer, a lover of poetry and music, or simply looking to soak in the atmosphere of a welcoming rural church, A Blackbird Sang offers something for everyone.

Come for a single event, or immerse yourself in the whole weekend – you’ll leave uplifted, refreshed, and inspired.

All are welcome.
