Bach’s St John Passion on Good Friday
Experience a dramatic and powerful performance of Bach’s St John Passion on Good Friday, 3 April in the spectacular surroundings of Gloucester Cathedral.
Performed by the Cathedral Choir of Gloucester Cathedral and accompanied by the acclaimed period-instrument ensemble La Serenissima, this will be an unforgettable Holy Week performance.
First heard on Good Friday in 1724, when it was sung by Bach’s church choir in Leipzig, the St John Passion portrays the final hours of Jesus’ life with striking intensity. The work draws listeners into the Passion story in a uniquely direct and moving way.
