Windows of the Temple and Jewels of the New Jerusalem: a talk by Dr Chloë Reddaway
No art form is more closely associated in the cultural imagination with Christian buildings than that of stained-glass windows, but why do we have them?
This illustrated talk from Dr Chloë Reddaway explains their relationship to both the Temple of Solomon and the vision of the Heavenly Jerusalem, and explores what theologians have had to say, not just about the pictures on the glass, but the medium of glass itself. Come and be illuminated.
Chloë lectures widely and has taught for Westcott House, Sarum College and Westminster College, Cambridge. She is a founding co-editor of the Brepols series, Arts and the Sacred and a member of the editorial board of Art + Christianity.
Free entry; refreshments afterwards; donations for windows fund welcome.
