As part of Women’s History Month 2026, Bishop Rachel took part in a question and answer session with Baroness Boycott about the role of women in government.
The questions were sent in by young people age 14-18 and the video is suitable to be shared with key stage 4 and above.
They talk about issues like the value that the Lords Spiritual and women in general bring to the chamber, their areas of expertise, issues facing women and society, and challenges and achievements in their own careers.
The Parliamentary Archives Team also share the story of women in the House of Lords including Lady Rhondda’s efforts to take her father’s seat in the House of Lords, the introduction of life peers and the first four women to take their seats in the House of Lords.
