New guidance and advice for PCCs working with architects and surveyors has been produced by Rory Wilson, Church Buildings Support Officer for the Diocese of Gloucester, as part of the Buildings for Mission initiative funded by the Church Commissioners through the Archbishops’ Council,
The primary guidance notes and supporting appendices are intended to assist and support Parochial Church Councils to engage with their church’s appointed architect/surveyor on an ongoing basis, and not just for the required five-yearly inspections.
Rory said: ‘As an RIBA chartered architect formerly in private practice, with significant experience working on church projects including conservation repairs and reordering, and having also been a churchwarden, I hope PCC members and others find this new guidance helpful.’
Please note that this document (including appendices) should be considered complementary to existing diocesan and national guidance.
