Bishop Rachel has today announced the appointment of the new Archdeacon of Cheltenham, the Revd Canon Katrina Scott.

Katrina is currently Area Dean of the North Cotswold Deanery and Rector of the Benefice of the Guitings, Cutsdean, Farmcote, Upper and Lower Slaughter with Eyford and Naunton. She has been in the Diocese of Gloucester since 2015 and is married to Nick who is a Prison Chaplain, and they have two children, Ruth and Freddie.

Katrina will start her role in April 2025 and is looking forward to getting started, she said, “I have loved being a part of the life of this Diocese over the last 10 years and am excited about the future that lies ahead of us. My vocation has always been rooted in a desire to share the love of God with all, and as the Archdeacon of Cheltenham I will seek to support our diverse worshipping communities in our towns and villages in living out God’s transforming good news. Earlier this year, I enjoyed the opportunity to be the acting Archdeacon for a period and got to know the deaneries more fully – I look forward to continuing to get to know the whole Archdeaconry – its schools, chaplaincies, fresh expressions and parishes. We serve a wonderful area, and I hope to cherish and hold together differing communities, theological perspectives and traditions, listening to and learning from one another, so that we can together celebrate serving God and our neighbours.”

Bishop Rachel is delighted by this appointment, she said, “I am delighted that Katrina has accepted my invitation to be the next Archdeacon of Cheltenham. She will bring valuable gifts and experience to this role rooted in prayer and faith in Jesus Christ as we continue to live out our Life Together vision across our worshipping communities. With Bishop Robert, Archdeacon Hilary and all members of the senior leadership team, I am greatly looking forward to working alongside her in a new role.”

Katrina studied Theology before she was ordained in 2000, serving in the city of Coventry for 15 years.

In her spare time Katrina tells us, “I love to read, run, spend time with my family and I am a huge fan of Glasgow Rangers!”

Information about Katrina’s licensing and installation as Archdeacon will be announced soon.

The word Leadership spelt out, with Committed to Transformation written underneath.
