Bishop Rachel: Interim Dean arrangements

Published: Tuesday January 3, 2023

Bishop RobertA message from Bishop Rachel about the departure of our current Interim Dean Andrew Braddock for Norwich, and Bishop Robert’s role for the coming months.

“This weekend we will bid farewell to Andrew Braddock as the Interim Dean of Gloucester as he prepares to take up his new post as Dean of Norwich.  Amid all that continues to change, I am both delighted and grateful that Bishop Robert has agreed to take on the role of Interim Dean until a new Dean is installed later in the year (a date will be confirmed once there has been a public announcement regarding a new Dean).

“Bishop Robert will act as an Episcopal Companion to the Cathedral community, offering his wisdom, insight and care at this crucial time. He will be working particularly closely with Theo Platt (Acting Chief Operating Officer) and Margaret Sheather (Senior Non-Executive Member of Chapter), as well as the wider Chapter. I am grateful to every one of them for their ministry, work, and commitment.

“Please join me in praying for the Mother Church of our Diocese, and for the Cathedral’s mission and ministry lived out in many inspiring ways by a diverse array of skilled staff and volunteers too numerous to name.”

There will be a diocesan Evensong to give thanks for Dean Andrew’s Ministry on Friday 6 January at 5.30pm. His last Sunday in Gloucester Cathedral will be on Sunday 8 January at 10.15am. All are welcome to join these services.
