The Revd Bryony Davis, Chaplain at HMP Leyhill is asking parishes to support men in prison by sending in worship and faith DVDs and CDs.
Leyhill is an open men’s prison, but due to coronavirus, as in the community, all faith services and groups have stopped.
Bryony said, “Our residents are not blessed with internet access and all the resources and opportunities that brings, and a number have low levels of literacy, for whom books are of limited use. We are trying to find new ways to support Christian residents in their faith and have been given permission to set up a library of worship CDs and faith DVDs that residents can use in their rooms.
“If churches could encourage their members to donate CDs or DVDs they no longer need, this would be much appreciated. We are looking for all sorts of worship CDs – traditional hymns, choral, contemporary worship, Taize, gospel, Christian meditation etc and teaching DVDs or faith related films. All CDs and DVDs must, for security reasons be shop bought / professionally produced, rather than home recorded. Thank you so much for your support – it will be a huge help in encouraging residents in their faith in these difficult times.”
CDs and DVDs can be posted to: The Revd Bryony Davis, Chaplaincy Team, HMP Leyhill, Tortworth Rd, Wotton-under-edge, GL12 8BT.
