Green Energy Deals for worshipping communities

Published: Wednesday October 21, 2020

Gloucester Churchyard RegulationsWe have a number of green energy deals available for worshipping communities in various forms.

1.  Ecotricity
Our Diocese has teamed up with Ecotricity to create a scheme through which both churches and individuals can sign up to switch to green energy, and we have loans available in some circumstances for churches to develop green energy schemes such as solar panels on church roofs. Please contact the Diocesan Environment Officer (details on this page) for more information. Switch to Ecotricity for a £25 voucher to spend at Waitrose/John Lewis. For every household, vicarage or church that switches, Ecotricity will also donate £25 to our diocesan environmental fund, which supports local projects.

Switching is very easy: www.ecotricity.co.uk/dioceseofgloucester or phone 08000 302 302 and they’ll take care of it. Make sure you quote “GLOSD1” to take advantage of the full deal.

2.  GAIA energy
This church tariff also helps fund the Diocese of Gloucester’s environmental work. Income from this Additional Renewable Kilowatt scheme (or ARK scheme), helps to fund different environmental projects in the diocese, supporting local churches who are seeking to lower their carbon footprint. This is part of the Church of England’s ‘Shrinking the Footprint’ scheme. GAIA has contributed significantly to our collaborative environmental fund in recent years.

How does it work?  An uplift of £20 per year (incl VAT) per contract (either gas or electricity or both) is added to the Standing Charge. This uplift contributes to diocesan renewable energy projects. For more information about the ARK tariff, please call 01179 506 502, email ku.oc1745523140.ygre1745523140ne-ai1745523140ag@of1745523140ni1745523140 or visit www.gaia-energy.co.uk
