The Church of England’s vision for education is summed up in the words “Deeply Christian, serving the common good”, but what does that really mean? We filmed the short video below to find out:- we join pupils of Newnham St Peter’s CofE Primary School as they decorate their crosses and discuss what values like ‘dignity’ and ‘hope’ really mean to them.
In the Diocese of Gloucester, over a third of all children are educated in Church of England primary schools, where they explore Christian teachings and how to apply these values to everyday situations. The children of Newnham St Peter’s CofE Primary School have been illustrating the four values of wisdom, dignity, community and hope on four giant holding crosses, which will be used to decorate Gloucester Cathedral at the School Leavers’ services next month.
