Reading 1 – Ephesians 3:14-19

Be full of joy in the Lord always. I will say again, be full of joy. Let all people see that you are gentle and kind. The Lord is coming soon. Do not worry about anything. But pray and ask God for everything you need. And when you pray, always give thanks. And God’s peace will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. The peace that God gives is so great that we cannot understand it. Continue to think about the things that are good and worthy of praise. Think about the things that are true and honourable and right and pure and beautiful and respected. And do what you learned and received from me. Do what I told you and what you saw me do. And the God who gives peace will be with you.

This is the word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

Prayer 1

God of the past,
thank you for the friends we have made,
the teachers who have helped us,
and the memories we will always treasure.
Thank you for the laughter, the learning, and even the challenges,
all of which have helped us grow.
We praise you for all that has been.
Amen.

Prayer 2

God of the future,
as we take our next steps into secondary school and new adventures,
be with us in all that is unknown.
Help us to be brave, to try new things,
and to trust that you are always by our side.
Guide us with hope and confidence in all that is to come.
Amen.

Prayer 3

God of compassion
teach us to care for others, to be kind,
and to show love in the little things we do.
Help us to listen, to help, and to stand up for what is right,
so that, wherever life takes us,

our actions reflect your love every day.
Amen.

The Lords Prayer

During the service, we will say the Lord’s Prayer together as a Diocesan Family. Please help the children to learn the words and consider their meaning so that they can participate fully during the service. We are happy for you to recite either the traditional or contemporary words of the prayer. We have put both versions below but guidance can be found on the Church of England website.

Contemporary

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.

Traditional

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
