Community of Practice

A new opportunity to develop a fresh or existing group in skills of reflective practice and theological reflection in children’s and youth ministry, leading to module accreditation at Level 4 (Foundation level, 10 credits).
Groups will meet on a regular basis to explore issues related to their practical ministry, with an opportunity to develop skills of reflective practice and receive input and guided learning. Participants will keep a learning journal that will be used as the basis for assessment for accreditation.
Content of the sessions will be decided by the participants and learning will be supplemented by independent study including use of online learning resources and reading lists.
The programme will suit volunteers and paid workers wishing to develop their practice and will be an introduction to study at foundation degree level, providing credits towards further study.
The groups will be facilitated by Pete White, CYPF Tutor in partnership with diocesan officers already engaged with the workers.
This will be a pilot project aimed at testing this model as an alternative way of delivering accredited training in the worker’s context rather than in the college environment.
Canon Dr Pete White is Tutor for Mission and Ministry with Children, Young People & Families at Ripon College, Cuddesdon. Pete was previously Director of Children & Youth at Peterborough Diocese where he led a culture change project, delivered training to clergy and lay workers, and led an intern programme. He serves as a volunteer youth worker in his home church in Northampton.
