The drone guidance has been updated to reflect the latest Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) framework (2026), including the introduction of Flyer ID and Operator ID requirements, UK class marks, and the distinction between Open and Specific Category operations. The revised guidance also clarifies the position on permissions, distinguishing between overflight and take‑off/landing, and sets out more clearly the responsibilities of incumbents and PCCs when approached about drone use.
The guidance has also been expanded to better cover practical considerations for churches, including wildlife and heritage constraints, expectations for commercial operators (PDRA01 and UK SORA authorisations), and strengthened advice on privacy and safeguarding.
