SUMMARY:Raising Awareness of Domestic Abuse Training
DESCRIPTION:There is a requirement that the Raising Awareness of Domestic Abuse Training is completed by all clergy\, PTO\, Readers\, Bishop and Pastoral visitors\, Parish Safeguarding Officers\, all those who have a role with children\, young people and vulnerable adults and lay chapter members. It is estimated that domestic abuse affects 1 in 3 women and 1 in 7 men. Therefore\, we will all know people who are victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse. \nThe aim of the module is designed to equip participants to engage thoughtfully and proactively with the issue of domestic abuse and those affected. \nWe recognise that not everyone will wish to complete modules online so we are also offering some face-to-face sessions. SUMMARY:Worship Leader Training - Gloucester City Deanery
DESCRIPTION:The Worship Leaders Course from the Diocese of Gloucester offers lay people the chance to gain formal training before receiving permission to lead Services of the Word and all-age worship. It’s a great way to serve your church community\, enabling collaborative and intergenerational leadership\, and ensuring services can still happen when clergy aren’t available. \nThe course is a mix of practical learning and exploring what worship means\, drawing from the Bible\, the rich traditions of Christian spirituality\, and contemporary experience. The course covers: \n\nThe essentials of leading public worship\nHow Anglican liturgy works\nThe role of music in worship\nCreating meaningful all-age and intergenerational worship\nPreparing and delivering a short Bible talk\nGrowing in confidence to lead and encourage others in worship\nWe’ll also create a space where we can learn from and encourage one another\, so it’s a great opportunity to build connections and share ideas.\n\nThe course will be hosted by the Revd Dr Joe Mottram and team at St Philip and James Hucclecote. \nLocation: St Philip and James\, Hucclecote\nLarkhay Road\, Hucclecote\, Gloucester\, GL3 3NS\nTime: Tuesdays\, 7pm to 9pm \nDates:\n6 May\n13 May\n20 May \nBreak for Half-Term \n10 June\n17 June\n24 June\n1 July (review session) \nTo join\, you’ll need to chat with your incumbent and get the agreement of your PCC. They’ll want to have a sense of how you might serve your church through worship leading. You’ll also need to complete safeguarding training\, ensuring our churches remain safe and welcoming spaces for everyone.
