DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, 28 June 2025\n10am* – 4pm\n*Doors Open 9am\nSt. Andrew’s Church\, Churchdown GL3 2JT \nWhat is Science and Faith day?\nScience and Faith Day is a day where we can explore how Science and Faith can fit together in the pursuit of truth. Also\, we will hear and share from others on what it’s like being a Christian in a STEM environment\, whether its in Science\, Tech\, Engineering\, Maths or other relevant fields\, and how to faithfully serve God in those careers. \nWho is it for?\nWhether you’re currently or formerly in a STEM career\, or deciding to study it at A-Level or University\, or if you’re just curious about science and faith\, all are welcome! \nWhat will I get out of it?\nThe day will include worship\, a keynote speaker\, breakout sessions\, and testimonies from professionals in STEM careers. Lunch is also provided! \nKeynote Speaker: Paul Ewart\nChair\, Christians in Science\nProfessor of Physics\, University of Oxford\nDirector (fmr.)\, The Faraday Institute.\n \nPaul Ewart\, brief bio. \nPaul Ewart was born and grew up in Belfast\, N. Ireland. After graduating with a BSc and PhD in physics from Queen’s University Belfast he did post-doctoral research at the Blackett Laboratory\, Imperial College\, London. In 1979 he moved as a lecturer to the Physics Department\, Oxford University where he later became Head of Atomic and Laser Physics. During his time at Oxford\, he also held a Royal Academy of Engineering 5-year Senior Research Fellowship and visiting Fellowships at the Joint Institute of Laboratory Astrophysics\, Boulder\, USA\, Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris and the University of Otago\, New Zealand. He has served as Executive Chairman of Christians in Science and\, after a spell as Director of the Faraday Institute for Science and Religion in Cambridge\, he returned to Oxford where he is currently Emeritus Professor of Physics.  \nTickets are £10pp. Book today!

DESCRIPTION:In response to feedback from churches about training which would be helpful\, we have developed a new course which is aimed at supporting staff and volunteers who are at times confronted with difficult situations such as individuals displaying challenging or disruptive behaviour\, or trying to end conversations well whilst ensuring that an individuals safety and well-being are promoted. \nThis training will help you consider the role\, responsibilities and boundaries of both your individual role and the activity or worshiping community you are part of. Most importantly\, it is an opportunity to look at how we might bring young people together in this location. \nThere is no need to book your place to attend these sessions. DESCRIPTION:Archdeacon Hilary and Archdeacon Katrina are looking forward very much to seeing all Churchwardens at one of this year’s visitation services. \nThis year for the Archdeacons’ Visitation Services\, which all Churchwardens are encouraged to attend in order to be admitted to their role\, we plan to follow the same pattern as last year and hold five joint Diocesan Wide Visitation Services which we will both attend and share. \nWe expect the services to last no more than an hour\, followed by refreshments which we hope you will be able to stay for and meet fellow wardens.

DESCRIPTION:MHFA Youth England   is an internationally recognised training programme. Through the training participants will gain the skills and confidence to spot the triggers and signs of mental health problems and be able to contribute effectively to reducing stigma. \nYouth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA®) courses are for everyone who works with\, lives with or supports young people aged 8-18. They will teach you the skills and confidence to spot the signs of mental health issues in a young person\, offer first aid and guide them towards the support they need.
