SUMMARY:Raising Awareness of Domestic Abuse Training
DESCRIPTION:There is a requirement that the Raising Awareness of Domestic Abuse Training is completed by all clergy\, PTO\, Readers\, Bishop and Pastoral visitors\, Parish Safeguarding Officers\, all those who have a role with children\, young people and vulnerable adults and lay chapter members. It is estimated that domestic abuse affects 1 in 3 women and 1 in 7 men. Therefore\, we will all know people who are victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse. \nThe aim of the module is designed to equip participants to engage thoughtfully and proactively with the issue of domestic abuse and those affected. \nWe recognise that not everyone will wish to complete modules online so we are also offering some face-to-face sessions. DESCRIPTION:The Worship Leaders Course from the Diocese of Gloucester offers lay people the chance to gain formal training before receiving permission to lead Services of the Word and all-age worship. It’s a great way to serve your church community\, enabling collaborative and intergenerational leadership\, and ensuring services can still happen when clergy aren’t available. \nThe course is a mix of practical learning and exploring what worship means\, drawing from the Bible\, the rich traditions of Christian spirituality\, and contemporary experience. It will cover the practical aspects of leading\, but also dive into what worship really means — drawing on the Bible\, Christian tradition\, and the wisdom of today’s church. \nIt’s a supportive space where you will learn with and from one another. Before the course begins\, you’ll need to talk with your incumbent and agree your attendance. They will then seek PCC approval for your participation. By this point\, you’ll hopefully have already had some conversation about how you might serve in your local context. DESCRIPTION:This year’s Michael Perham University and Cathedral Lecture will be given by the Very Revd John Witcombe\, Dean of Coventry. \nDuring the last 12 years John has led Coventry Cathedral in its role as a thriving spiritual\, social and artistic centre in the city. After its destruction in the second world war\, the Cathedral created an international ministry in the area of reconciliation. John has built relationships with churches and communities in Germany and around the world\, visiting many communities who are engaged in the work of reconciliation\, often inducting them into the Community of the Cross of Nails. DESCRIPTION:This course will be delivered in Persian \nThere is a requirement that the Raising awareness of domestic abuse course is completed by all clergy\, PTO\, Readers\, Bishop and Pastoral visitors\, Parish Safeguarding Officers\, all those who have a role with children\, young people and vulnerable adults and lay chapter members. It is estimated that domestic abuse affects 1 in 3 women and 1 in 7 men. Therefore\, we will all know people who are victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse. \nThe aim of the module is designed to equip participants to engage thoughtfully and proactively with the issue of domestic abuse and those affected. \nWe recognise that not everyone will wish to complete modules online so we are also offering some face-to-face sessions.
