SUMMARY:Growing Hope - Accessibility Training
DESCRIPTION:This practical workshop will look at how to support children\, young people and adults with a range of needs. Additional needs can include anything which impacts upon participation in activity (physical\, learning\, mental health or undiagnosed needs). \nWe’ll focus on our sensory processing: \n\nhow we take in the world through our senses\nhow God speaks to us through these senses\nhow multisensory strategies enable our church communities and spaces to be accessible for everyone.\n\nGrowing Hope is a charity providing free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. \nTo book your place\, please click here. \nLed by: \nBarrie Voyce\, Senior Youth Connector \nBarrie leads the growing network of deanery youth connectors\, enabling and equipping effective youth ministry across the diocese. \n  \n  \nFaith Spinks\, from Growing Hope will be your facilitator for the evening. \nFaith works for Growing Hope as Accessibility Engagement Officer connecting with churches\, schools and other organisations\, providing accessibility training and awards. She is a qualified teacher with a BA (QTS) in education and has spent her career working with children and young people – as a teacher\, in-school student mentoring\, church children and youth work\, in the charity sector\, volunteering with foster kids\, and working in Brazil with children and young people living on the streets. This has included working with children with complex needs and trauma backgrounds both here in the UK and internationally. Faith is passionate about helping churches and schools understand accessibility better as a way to equip them to support parents and families better.

SUMMARY:Mental Health First Aid Youth Training - Day 2 of 2
DESCRIPTION:Youth · MHFA England   \nMHFA Youth Mental Health First Aid courses are for anyone who lives with\, works with\, or supports young people aged 8 to 18. \nWe train the adults in a young person’s life to have the skills and confidence to identify poor mental health and provide first-level support where it’s needed. In doing so\, they can speed up a young person’s recovery\, prevent their mental health from deteriorating\, and ultimately save lives. \nWhat’s more\, by giving learners the tools to look after their own mental health\, we can set a positive example for young people. We need to show that mental health should be treated equally to physical health\, and that it’s okay to talk about it and to ask for help. \nThis course will be over 2 days and you do need to attend both days – Tuesday 3 & Tuesday 10 February from 9.00am – 5.00pm. \nVenue – St Andrew’s Church Hall\, Churchdown\, Gloucester \nTo book a place please email ku.gro.coidsolg@gniniartgnidraugefas

But I soon realised this is what I wanted to bring into the world.  I combine different disciplines\, and with each project I get more curious about the human condition and the stories we tell. The Theme of “Finding Home in Two Worlds” speaks to the refugee experience as well as the challenge of living on earth\, while sometimes longing to be in Heaven! – Soumik Datta \nSoumik will be performing his pathbreaking piece “Borderlands”. \nYou can listen to Soumik Datta here.  \nThe Green Room Collective is a group of artists from migrant and refugee backgrounds who create performances that blend music and spoken word to explore themes of home\, displacement\, and migration. Their work celebrates diversity and the power of collaboration. \n\n\n\nEach one of these multi-talented\, streetwise\, transglobal performers of the Green Room Collective would be worth spending an evening with\, experiencing their solo work. The fact that we have six of them collaborating so that we can witness the birthing of a new musical work of startling relevance is beyond value. They collectively weave music\, songs\, spoken word and film to produce a magnificent tribute to resilience.  – The Revd Simon Howell\, originator of the Festival. \n\n\n\nIntroducing the performers of the Green Room Collective: \nThe Green Room Collective includes three musicians with South Asian heritage and training in classical Indian music\, alongside a Palestinian Oud player new to the lineup. Their performances are a fusion of cultures\, showcasing a high quality of musicianship and emotional power. Through their art\, they address issues of migration\, displacement\, political struggle\, collusion\, and privilege. \nHéctor Manchego – spoken word \nHossein Mirzagholi – guitar and voice \nGiuliano Modarelli – guitar and voice \nDeeptarka Mukhopadhyay – tabla and percussion \nPreetha Narayanan  – violin\, piano\, voice \nSaied Silbak – oud \n  \nTickets can be bought by clicking here. \nTo apply for a free ticket (this also includes free tickets for refugees\, asylum seekers and referrals)\, you can sign up or come along on the day and convey your situation to the ticket table. \n  \n  \n  \n
