DESCRIPTION:For anyone interested in youth ministry in the Stroud area\, even if their church is not currently engaged in youth ministry. \nStroud Youth Ministry Connect is an opportunity to meet regularly to chat\, share ideas\, pray and look at how we can work together. Most importantly\, it is an opportunity to look at how we might bring young people together in this location. \nThere is no need to book your place to attend these sessions. SUMMARY:Run the Race
DESCRIPTION:Therefore\, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses\, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely\, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us\, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith\, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross\, disregarding its shame\, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.  \nHebrews 12:1-2  \nAre you a New Years Resolution person? All those great decisions and good intentions… it’s not that they are a bad thing\, right?  \nHow do we run the race with endurance\, not falling into trying\, but rather training? \nWhat would it mean to make choices at the beginning of the New Year that allow us to flourish\, rest\, be more creative\, and joyful?  \nAs I have listened to felt needs around the Diocese in these first six months\, how we are to manage our time\, make good choices about what to do and\, probably more importantly\, what not to do\, has come up all over the place. DESCRIPTION:At the start of Advent we will tip into year C – reflecting on\, studying and hearing from God through the Gospel according to Luke. As we follow the lectionary through the year\, we do so with the Anglican Communion\, many other denominations\, nations and people groups. It’s a wonderful thing! \nEach week another glimpse at the life and ministry of Christ\, treasures to ponder and wonder about. And before we begin\, here is a great opportunity to remind yourself\, or to study for the first time\, the whole narrative of Luke\, the context in which he was writing\, as he writes this\, his first contribution to our scriptures. \nOur colleagues from Cuddesdon\, Gloucester and Hereford Training will be leading us through this and it is promising to be a rich and inspiring time together. \nLed by: Revd Dr Richard Wyld\, Director\, Portsmouth Pathway Cuddesdon \nHaving taught on the Portsmouth Pathway for a couple of years before becoming Director in May 2020\, Richard joined the academic staff team based at Cuddesdon in July 2024. He teaches on a range of courses and areas of ministry\, though his main interest is with biblical studies\, hermeneutics\, and especially the New Testament. He trained for ordained ministry at Cranmer Hall\, and then paused ordination to study for a PhD in Durham\, looking at Christian hope as a framework for thinking about what is happening when we read scripture. He was ordained in 2013\, served his title in and around Sherborne in Dorset\, and was chaplain to the Bishop of Portsmouth from late 2017-2020.  Richard enjoys finding ways to make scripture and theology as accessible as possible to all\, and believes that everyone has a voice in the enterprise. He lives with a rescue dog\, enjoys walking and painting\, and is approximately one half of post-hardcore talk music duo\, ‘Rails\, Witnesses’. \nThis event will run on Monday 4 November starting at 7pm or Tuesday 5 November at 10am \nTo book your place on either of these events please click here.

DESCRIPTION:This October\, Branch is celebrating 10 years of serving the young people of the Forest of Dean\, and even a little further afield. \nBranch Youth Worship aims to have vibrant worship\, challenging sermons and an opportunity for young people to gather and fellowship together. \nThis party invites anyone who has ever been to Branch\, as a young person\, preacher\, musician or youth leader\, to celebrate. DESCRIPTION:We all have opinions\, are aware of it and make allowances. What is of greater concern is those of which we are unconscious. \nThis training\, which is part of our safer recruiting programme\, is open to anyone who wants to become more aware of their thinking. DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to be a Christian in the 21st Century?\nThe next diocesan Pastoral Assistants Course starts on 14 September 2024 in Chipping Sodbury. Using an interactive workshop style the course covers a breadth of subjects aiming to equip people to be able to work in all manner of pastoral situations. \nPastoral assistants have a heart for others\, reflecting the care that God has for us to other people; sharing their joys and sorrows. Pastoral Assistants need to be able to relate with sensitivity to people at various stages in life\, those with varying degrees of Christian commitment  and with those who are searching. \nOnce trained\, Pastoral Assistants are commissioned and minister in their local parish or benefice. DESCRIPTION:For anyone involved with Children\, Youth and Families ministry in the Diocese of Gloucester. \nMore than an ideas factory\, the ‘Introduction to Christian Ministry’ course is an opportunity to go deeper into your faith\, learn more about the bible and ministry in a local learning community with the option to work towards a qualification. \nTerm time only. She served as Worcester Diocesan Youth Officer where she advised all the churches on their engagement with young people as well as supporting educational chaplaincy in secondary\, further and higher education and supporting the Church of England Youth Council as chaplain. Sarah was on General Synod from 2015 to 2017 and has previously been on the National Board of Education.  She has been a school governor at three different CE Primary Schools\, including serving as both chair of governors and Safeguarding Governor. She was the chair of the trustees of Worcestershire YMCA and currently serves as Chair of the British and Irish Association for Practical Theology and as a trustee of the St Christopher’s Education Trust. \n
