SUMMARY:Growing Hope - Accessibility Training
DESCRIPTION:This practical workshop will look at how to support children\, young people and adults with a range of needs. Additional needs can include anything which impacts upon participation in activity (physical\, learning\, mental health or undiagnosed needs). \nWe’ll focus on our sensory processing: \n\nhow we take in the world through our senses\nhow God speaks to us through these senses\nhow multisensory strategies enable our church communities and spaces to be accessible for everyone.\n\nGrowing Hope is a charity providing free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. \nTo book your place\, please click here. \nLed by: \nBarrie Voyce\, Senior Youth Connector \nBarrie leads the growing network of deanery youth connectors\, enabling and equipping effective youth ministry across the diocese. \n  \n  \nFaith Spinks\, from Growing Hope will be your facilitator for the evening. \nFaith works for Growing Hope as Accessibility Engagement Officer connecting with churches\, schools and other organisations\, providing accessibility training and awards. She is a qualified teacher with a BA (QTS) in education and has spent her career working with children and young people – as a teacher\, in-school student mentoring\, church children and youth work\, in the charity sector\, volunteering with foster kids\, and working in Brazil with children and young people living on the streets. This has included working with children with complex needs and trauma backgrounds both here in the UK and internationally. Faith is passionate about helping churches and schools understand accessibility better as a way to equip them to support parents and families better.

SUMMARY:Community of Practice for CFM - Children’s and Youth ministry
DESCRIPTION:A new opportunity to develop a fresh or existing group in skills of reflective practice and theological reflection in children’s and youth ministry\, leading to module accreditation at Level 4 (Foundation level\, 10 credits). \nGroups will meet on a regular basis to explore issues related to their practical ministry\, with an opportunity to develop skills of reflective practice and receive input and guided learning. Participants will keep a learning journal that will be used as the basis for assessment for accreditation. \nContent of the sessions will be decided by the participants and learning will be supplemented by independent study including use of online learning resources and reading lists. \nThe programme will suit volunteers and paid workers wishing to develop their practice and will be an introduction to study at foundation  degree level\, providing credits towards further study. \nThe groups will be facilitated by Pete White\, CYPF Tutor in partnership with diocesan officers already engaged with the workers. \nThis will be a pilot project aimed at testing this model as an alternative way of delivering accredited training in the worker’s context rather than in the college environment. \nCanon Dr Pete White is Tutor for Mission and Ministry with Children\, Young People & Families at Ripon College\, Cuddesdon. Pete was previously Director of Children & Youth at Peterborough Diocese where he led a culture change project\, delivered training to clergy and lay workers\, and led an intern programme. He serves as a volunteer youth worker in his home church in Northampton.
