SUMMARY:Practical training in lime mortar and conservation masonry skills
DESCRIPTION:This training course teaches traditional building skills through hands-on experience. This course will be of interest to both professionals and amateurs hoping to develop practical conservation skills. \nThe training is led by four experienced conservators who will supervise and give demonstrations. The training will focus on raking out\, mixing and pointing. \nChurches like Redbrook were built by local craftspeople\, using time-honoured practices\, traditional methods of construction and natural materials. An understanding of lime\, and its use in renders and mortars\, is essential for anyone working on old buildings. \nCheck out this video from the course in 2021: Redbrook church Masonry Training (youtube.com) \nSome discounted and free places are available to local people willing to commit to voluntary work on Redbrook church\, and for young people who are just starting out. \nFor further information and for bookings\, email masonry.midwyedean@gmail.com. \n
