DESCRIPTION:The Friends of St Mary the Virgin\, Hawkesbury\, are delighted to announce ‘Antiphony’\, a new exhibition by three graduates of the 2025 Fine Art MA at Bath Spa University: Sally Jones\, Philip Ringland\, and Lindsay Woodman. \nThis unique collaboration brings together works that engage in dialogue with one another and with the architectural\, historical and spiritual significance of St Mary’s Church. Conceived through a form of call and response\, the artists respond to the church not simply as a backdrop\, but as a lived and meaningful space shaped by human history\, religious ritual\, materiality and the natural environment. Antiphony invites visitors to experience the church in new ways and to open conversations between place\, history\, faith\, memory and imagination. \nFriends of St Mary’s Secretary Debbie Young says: “We are thrilled that St Mary’s has inspired these remarkable artists. His drawings and 3D sculptural forms\, which use clay and found objects\, are inspired by architecture\, history\, politics\, and his love of story\, to explore ideas of migration\, transformation and identity. \nLindsay Woodman is a multi-disciplinary artist working across video\, projections\, words installation\, and scent. She creates immersive works that integrate moving image\, sound\, touch\, and smell to evoke sensory and emotional experiences. \nThe Friends of St Mary’s was formed in 1980 by people who care deeply about the beauty and tranquillity of the church and its grounds.. As a Grade One listed building\, St Mary’s requires constant care and attention. Our aim is to ensure that visitors and parishioners can appreciate St Mary’s for years to come. DESCRIPTION:The CMN Children’s Ministry Essentials Course is a new and exciting resource for children’s ministry. It is aimed at anyone who is volunteering with children in the church or community\, and particularly those who wish to grow in confidence\, knowledge and ability. It is packed full of useful information to equip and strengthen anyone ministering to children in churches and community projects. The course is made up of ten 1h30min sessions with films and lots of great content. \nClick here to register your interest. \nIt is based upon the three key principles of: \nKnowing the child \nGrowing and developing children’s ministry \nLeader development  \nThe ten modules include topics such as: the world of the child\, leadership and teamwork\, the role of play in faith formation\, and inclusion. \nThe course is delivered by the Children’s Ministry Network (CMN)\, who have collaborated as part of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CTBI)\, to develop excellent content that will prove valuable to anyone working in ministry with children. \nThis event will be led by Jo Wetherall and Helen Champion. \nJo Wetherall –  Senior Children and Families Connector \nThe Revd Joanne Wetherall supports churches across the diocese in developing their work with children and families\, including the nurturing of faith in the home and school-parish relationships. \n  \nHelen Champion – Gloucester City Youth Connector \nHelen is the Youth Connector for Gloucester city\, working in the Deanery and wider Diocese to enable young people to experience ‘life in all its fullness.’ \n

The weekend is a collaboration between the National Vocations Team\, the Diocese of Salisbury\, Sarum College\, and UKME Ordinands and Curates.
