This course from the Diocese of Gloucester gives lay people formal training before gaining permission to lead Services of the Word and all-age worship, usually where they worship on a regular basis. They become part of the ministry team, are enablers of ministry and can offer a Sunday service where otherwise there may not be one.
We will look at the basics of being a leader of public worship in a church, how Anglican liturgy works, the place of music in worship, the importance of all-age worship, and how to structure and deliver a short Bible talk. There will be plenty of practical work, as well as theory, to give everyone confidence up front.
You will need the agreement of your incumbent and PCC to attend this course and be willing to undertake safeguarding training. Participants will have to complete each session.
