Do you, or those you work around, know someone who’s deserving of an award? Maybe an unsung hero who deserves recognition for their voluntary efforts or a brilliant group that has built a precious community?
BBC Radio Gloucestershire is seeking nominations for the 2024 Make a Difference Awards.
Make a Difference began during the pandemic as a virtual noticeboard for local communities across the country, putting people who needed help in touch with those able to offer it. The Make a Difference Awards celebrate people who are going above and beyond to make a difference in their area, and are a chance to say thank you and recognise people and animals who make life better for others.
Last year, saw local charitable enterprise The Long Table win The Together Award. In September, the finalists were presented with their accolades at the Make a Difference awards ceremony at Gloucester Cathedral.
This year, the eight award categories are as follows:
- Volunteer
- Community
- Fundraiser
- Carer
- Great Neighbour
- Bravery
- The Green Award
- The Animal Award
Chris Sandys, Communities Producer at BBC Radio Gloucestershire, says, “We had a brilliant awards at Gloucester Cathedral last September and I’m really excited we’re doing it again. But first – and most importantly – we need nominations and the window is open until Sunday 10 March.
“Every day, we hear stories of people doing incredible things for each other and their communities and this is hopefully a great way to recognise many of them in a Gloucestershire community awards ceremony.
“Please spread the word to the people you work and live with who might be able to think about individuals in the community who deserve an award.”
