Children, Youth and Families Story: St Andrew’s Children’s Prayer Breakfasts

Published: Tuesday April 23, 2024

St Andrew’s and St Bartholomew’s Children’s and Families Pastor, Kate Smith, shares good news about their Children’s Prayer Breakfasts.

At St Andrews, we have a men’s breakfast and a women’s breakfast every term. These breakfasts usually have a main speaker and an opportunity for prayer and are very popular, well attended events. After some time we noticed that whilst we have a men’s and a women’s breakfast, there was nothing for children so we decided to do something about this by introducing Children’s Prayer Breakfasts. These take place once a term on a Saturday morning and involve food, games, worship and the chance to go into a quiet space in the church and pray using four interactive prayer stations to help focus our prayers. It’s been great to see the children engaging with the prayer activities and after our first Children’s Prayer Breakfast in June last year, we’ve had more families sign up to each one which has been a real joy. Our prayer is that the children will continue to be drawn into a deeper, closer relationship with God through these breakfasts together.
