On the 18-19 of February, Nathan Youlton who works for PSALMS, ran a Multi Sports camp alongside the vicars, ministers and volunteers from two local churches in Innsworth Community Hall and the School. It aimed to link up more of the Innsworth community by providing a safe sporty environment for local children to enjoy in the holidays and also use it as a platform to explore the Christian Faith.
Over 30 Children took part over the two days, which saw volunteers from local churches lending their support, all with varying degrees of sporting ability including some young leaders not attached to the local area. The camp explored the characteristics of ‘perseverance’ and ‘Trust’ alongside the Bible character Moses; children were encouraged to think about how these traits were shown through Moses and what they could learn from his story. Plenty of games were enjoyed throughout the two days with the two themes in mind, enabling learning to take place during both busy and quieter times.
The camp would not have been possible without the generous grant from Innsworth Parish Council which enabled the local churches to provide support in a variety of other ways throughout the two days. It is hoped that due to the success of this camp, future camps will be bigger and better, continuing to build great relationships with the young people of Innsworth and its surrounding areas.
The next camp is scheduled for 27-28 May, please contact Rob French for more information or keep up to date with Psalms’ week to week projects via their YouTube channel.
