Diocese of Gloucester Funerals is a diocesan initiative offered to Funeral Directors to provide the most complete range of Ministers’ for funerals from a single source.

In the Gloucester City area and other surrounding areas, we can supply Licensed Ministers for any funeral situation from priests for traditional church funerals to ministers for crematorium services or woodland burials with each ceremony tailored to the needs of individual families. During 2020 we expanded the scope of this project to the Forest South Deanery.
This new approach is in response to results from research carried out with Funeral Directors both nationally and locally to offer a simpler, more streamlined and efficient way for you, the Funeral Director, to organise Funerals.
24-hour response
There is now just one number to ring – 07742 700319 – to book a funeral anywhere in the Gloucester City or Forest South area, whether it is for a church service or at a Crematorium.
If you are looking to arrange a funeral in a Church of England church, we will aim to have a date and time agreed with you within 24 hours of your call and give details of who will be leading the service.
For funerals in crematoria and woodland burial sites we would expect to accept the date and time you have arranged and confirm who will lead the ceremony with you within 24 hours of your call.
Fully trained ministers
All our Ministers are fully trained – either as part of their original training to become priests, or as dedicated Funeral Ministers. Their performance is also monitored with regular reviews.
Spiritual content
We can tailor the spiritual content of the funeral according to the wishes of the next of kin. From the Book of Common Prayer to specially written prayers and tributes, we can offer a message of Christian hope in the most appropriate way.
On-going care of the bereaved
In addition to offering a comprehensive Celebrant service, we will also give continuing bereavement follow-up and support to those who have lost loved ones. This is included in our overall service and will continue for as long as it is requested.
Simple fee structure
Our fees are set nationally. They are reasonable and competitive with other Celebrants and there is a single fee for all ceremonies at crematoria and woodland burial sites. There will also be a single fee for church funerals with the only variant being the amount charged for the use of an organist. But we will always give you a quote.
All funerals will be invoiced by Diocese of Gloucester Funerals to make things simpler with clear pricing and payment options.
