Donkeys come in all shapes and sizes, they are known for being strong willed even stubborn.
No such problems in Fairford on Palm Sunday as regular Messy Church supporter Frank combined tradition with technology to lead the palm procession to St Mary’s church.
Inside the church a host of activities awaited all ages from magic writing to a Hosanna banner and instead of the more usual ‘pin the tail on the donkey’ the challenge was to seat Jesus on the donkey. If sport is where your interest lies then join in the competitive relay race, which team would be first to have every member put on a cloak grab their palm branch and run back?
Celebration time and the children took the lead in sharing Isingpop songs https://www.isingpop.org/and dance moves before we all followed the story of Holy Week through the church yard, booing Mr Cheap selling his cheap sheep in the temple, marvelling at Jesus healing miracles and the love and forgiveness he shared, even when he was crucified. Reverend Caroline reminded us all about the wonder of Easter and Jesus resurrection before one final song of celebration and a fabulous party tea.
