Bishop Rachel to lead a service on a tractor
Wednesday, 27 April 2016
The Bishop of Gloucester, the Right Revd Rachel Treweek, will be leading a special service this Sunday on a tractor, followed by the congregation on a number of trailers.
This special outdoor moving service on Rogation Sunday, is to bless the land in and around Awre in the Forest of Dean. The tractor will lead the trailers full of about 50 people, through eight different locations throughout the village, stopping at each to sing a hymn accompanied by music and for Bishop Rachel to say a prayer.
The Revd Dr Rob James, Vicar of Newnham-on-Severn, Awre and Blakeney said: “Rogation is an important festival for Awre. It is a chance to pray for the village, for the farms and business and for our common life. The way we do this service (with tractors and trailers) is also a lot of fun!”
