Faith in maintenance

Anyone worried about damp in their church building is invited to come to a free training course run by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB).

During the free, one day course, on Thursday 10 September, 10am to 4pm, you will learn to recognise potential problems, tackle common maintenance tasks, understand inspections and reports and know when to call in expert help.

It is suitable for people from a whole range of backgrounds who look after historic places of worship. No prior technical knowledge is needed.

There will be talks and a practical exercise, looking at elements of a church building and how to identify defects. There is also a chance to talk to professionals and other delegates.

All attendees will get a free copy of the Good Maintenance Guide and will be able to use SPAB’s telephone technical advice service.
