At Christmas, giving is one way we can show care and kindness to others. Supporting charities and community appeals helps bring hope and practical help to people facing difficult times, both locally and around the world.
Christian Aid
Christian Aid’s Christmas appeal focuses on supporting families affected by conflict and displacement around the world. In countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, years of violence have forced millions from their homes, leaving families without access to food, clean water or healthcare.
Through local partners, Christian Aid helps families meet immediate needs such as food, hygiene supplies and shelter, while also offering longer-term support, including trauma care for survivors of violence.
This Christmas, donations, prayers or fundraising events such as carol services can help bring hope and practical support to people living through crisis.

Gloucestershire Nightstop
Gloucestershire Nightstop supports young people aged 16 to 25 who have no safe place to stay, offering emergency accommodation, safety and care at a time of crisis. As well as financial donations, they have an Amazon wishlist with practical items such as hot water bottles, toiletries, art supplies and duvets, helping young people feel welcomed and cared for.

Gloucester City Mission
Gloucester City Mission supports people facing poverty and hardship locally throughout the year. This Christmas, as well as welcoming donations of money and prayers, they are particularly asking for new men’s and women’s underwear (boxers and briefs for men). Donations can be dropped off at their centre at 72 Eastgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 1QN.
Gloucester Quays toy appeal
Gloucester Quays is working with the Pied Piper Appeal to spread festive cheer to children staying in the Royal Hospital’s Children’s Ward. Visitors can donate new, unopened toys for children of all ages at the centre’s collection point.
Every gift helps make a child’s hospital stay brighter, with items available from The Entertainer, Smyths, and Amazon.
Trussell Trust
The Trussell Trust’s winter appeal is asking for support to help provide emergency food to families and individuals facing hardship, as well as funding expert advice services to help people move out of crisis.
As we celebrate Christ’s love this Christmas, let us respond with compassion – supporting those in need through prayer, generosity and action.
