‘Faith and finance’ will be taking place in March 2026. It’s a new diocesan event designed to help us think more clearly, confidently, and faithfully about money, in our personal lives, our households, and our wider communities.
Lisa-Jayne Lewis, Stewardship and Giving Advisor said, “Money is something we all encounter every day, yet many of us feel underprepared or unsure when it comes to making decisions that affect our security, our future, and those who depend on us.
“As Christians, we also recognise that money carries ethical and spiritual weight. How we earn, spend, save, and give is woven into our discipleship, our sense of justice, and our desire to use what we have in ways that honour God and support the flourishing of others.
“We want to help people grow in financial literacy not only for their own wellbeing and that of their loved ones, but also so we can make choices that contribute to the common good; choices rooted in Christian hope, compassion, and wisdom.”
A wide range of practical and ethical topics will be explored with expert speakers, including:
- Pensions and planning for the future
- Investments and ethical decision-making
- Legacy and will writing
- Ethical personal banking
- Talking to children about money
- Tools for everyday money management
Lisa-Jayne continued: “This is a day for everyone, not just treasurers or church leaders, but for anyone who wants to understand their finances more clearly and make decisions that align with their Christian values. Whether you’re feeling confident, worried, curious or simply ready to learn, you will be warmly welcomed.
“I know that so many people struggle to get a grip on their finances. We all tend to learn things as they come up, rather than being prepared and being able to make educated decisions around matters of money. ‘Faith and Finance’ is a chance to explore what money means to us as part of our Christian faith and also take away some personal action points that we can implement in our own daily lives.”
Full booking details will be released in the new year, but for now we encourage you to save the date: Saturday 21 March, from 10am to 4pm at St John’s Church, Churchdown.
